Bowland Maths

Bowland Maths Regional Conferences

London

The Mathematical Association and Association of Teachers of Mathematics have jointly designed a one-day event for secondary Mathematics advisors, Consultants and Advanced Skills Teachers to provide a hands-on introduction to both the Bowland lesson resources and the accompanying professional development materials for key stage 3 mathematics teachers.

These conferences are aimed at the coordinators of professional development for mathematics teachers in the region and will equip delegates with an adaptable toolkit of professional development resources to tailor to meet the local need. It is anticipated that this will support an active "cascade" model of local activity to widely disseminate both the aims and content of the Bowland Maths DVD.

These sessions will be held in nine regional locations and are free to delegates. Each conference is limited to 30 places, so you are advised to book early using the appropriate online registration form for the regional event you would like to attend. Click on the map to view the event in your region. You will receive an automated email confirming your registration.

Before you attend these sessions, you will need to read the following two articles from Mathematics Teaching.

These will form part of discussion activity in one of the sessions so you will probably want to print the articles and highlight any text which resonates with your own experiences or thinking.

Mathematics Teaching 141 - December 1992

Models for teaching mathematics by Alan Wigley

Making school mathematics real by Jo Boaler
