The
MA Secondary Mathematics Conference
Friday 22nd February 2008, York
This
regional event, held with support from the NCETM and STEMNET in
Yorkshire and Humberside attracted over 90 delegates who took part
in a wide range of talks, presentations and workshops. Delegate
feedback from the day, both informal and via the evaluation forms,
was hugely positive, with responses such as the best part of the
day was
"
bouncing ideas off inspired/inspiring
individuals" and "
the opportunity to meet with and
share ideas about teaching practices".
The opening plenary talk was given by Rob Eastaway and Tom Roper
gave the closing plenary talk. Our thanks go to Mary Ledwick and
Tony Shepherd for organising the event and to each of the 15 presenters/workshop
leaders for making the event such a success. We are already exploring
the possibility of holding a similar event in 2009.

SmartBoard interactive whiteboard
training for mathematics
Designed especially for Steljes by the Mathematical Association, this half-day course is designed to help teachers use the power and functionality of the SMART Board interactive whiteboard (IWB) to enhance teaching and learning in mathematics.
The course will be very strongly focused on subject specific resources and issues. Teachers will be given the opportunity to work with and adapt resources that have been tried, tested and found specifically helpful to teachers and learners of mathematics.
Full details can be found
