New Honorary Members 2025 23 April 2025

We are delighted to announce that Prof John Berry and Dr Gerry Leversha have accepted Honorary Membership of The Mathematical Association. Honorary Membership is awarded in recognition of outstanding contribution to mathematics or mathematics education and only in exceptional circumstances.

John Berry
John was MA President for the year 1999-2000. His Presidential Address was "Developing the Mathematical Feel" and the audience had to stand and wave their arms around! You can find a copy in the November 2000 Gazette.
John joined the MA Council in 1998. After his spell as President, he took on the task of being a co-editor of Mathematics in School with Dr Chris Pritchard.

Gerry Leversha
Gerry spent most of his teaching career at St Paul's School in London,
His first Gazette item was in October 1991 and this has been followed by at least fourteen more. He is best known as the Editor of the Mathematical Gazette, beginning with the July 2002 issue, and the subsequent 69 issues to date.
