24 September 2015
Venue: Exeter Maths School
Time: 6.45pm for 7.15 pm
Speaker: Stefanie Burke, Primary Maths Advisor
Subject: Leading a 'learning conversation' - a social constructivist approach to using lesson observation as CPD
In this session Stefanie will explain how her training and research as a Numbers Count Teacher Leader has impacted on her work as a primary maths advisor, in particular how she can choose to manage the conversation after she has observed teaching for example when watching teaching as part of lesson study CPD.
We will explore different ways that the observer can lead the conversation depending on the purpose of the observation and on the observer's beliefs about how teachers learn. We will consider how the social constructivist theory of learning can influence the content and style of a conversation between the observer and observed.
