Honours for Margaret Brown and Charlie Stripp

The Mathematical Association warmly welcomes the announcement of Margaret Brown’s award of an OBE in the New Year’s Honours List for ‘services to Mathematics Education and Governance of Schools in South London’. Professor Brown’s influential research and teaching, particularly at King’s College London over the past 24 years, have placed her in the very forefront of mathematics education in this country. She has long been associated with the MA and was President in 1990.

The Association is also delighted to learn that Charlie Stripp has been awarded an MBE for ‘services to Education’. As the Chief Executive of MEI and the Director of the NCETM, Charlie is one of the leading figures in mathematics education in Britain today. At The Mathematical Association, we know him as a valuable member of our Council, a former Chair of Teaching Committee and a frequent speaker at conferences. Congratulations, Charlie, what a well-merited award!
