On the STEM Day, 50 pupils will put their design, technology, engineering and maths talents to the test in the 'Wind Turbine Challenge'. They will be tasked with designing and constructing a wind turbine to produce the greatest amount of electricity. The turbine has to be free-standing and structurally robust to support heavy components and moving parts. Each STEM Day is designed to enhance their understanding of engineering with the winning teams being judged on aesthetics, cost, power generated, team-working and stability.
This National Grid STEM Day is only available to schools in certain regions of the UK. A limited number of STEM Days is available. STEM Days are very popular and are booked on a first-come, first-served basis. To apply for a FREE National Grid STEM Day, fill in a National Grid STEM booking form and fax it to 01926 333202.
