Joint MA/ATM meeting - Exeter Branch

In this session Mark McCourt will use algebra tiles to discuss and explore some of the strategies and structures that underpin school algebra, including some proofs from first principles. Everything covered will be ridiculously easy!
There will be algebra tiles to borrow for this session!
Mark was a director at the NCETM and has also been a school leader, an AST, a school inspector and a teacher trainer. He founded and was chairman of the Teacher Development Trust and is founder and CEO of La Salle Education.
Mark has extensive experience of mathematics teaching and learning across all ages and ability groups having taught students from age 3 to PhD, he tweets as @emathsUK.

Suitable for teachers of mathematics from upper primary or secondary schools.
This is a free session but please contact Richard Perring if you
would like to come so that we can make sure there’s enough coffee! Spaces
are limited and places will be allocated on a first come first served basis.
