NRICHing Mathematics

By

Liz Woodham

of the NRICH project

Based at the University of Cambridge, www.nrich.maths.org provides thousands of free resources which are designed to develop subject content knowledge and problem-solving and thinking skills. Drawing on the website, Liz will lead a session exploring problems that:

        can be solved in a variety of ways;

        have multiple solutions;

        encourage students to explore new environments;

        require application of mathematical knowledge and skills.

Saturday 2nd February 2008

9.30 am – 12.00 noon

School of Education, University of Leicester

Cost: £3 (free to students)

There is a committee meeting on Thursday 17th January at 7.00pm at Leicester University. Please do join us to discuss the remaining events this year and suggest ideas for the next academic year, anyone is welcome to attend and we will send more details if you let us know you are coming.

You can let us know if you are coming to either event by replying to Ruth Tanner, Chair of the East Midlands branch of the ATM/MA, e-mail: eastmidadmin@atm-online.org.uk

More details will be sent nearer the time and will be available on our webpage at: atm.org.uk/about/branches/east-midlands.html

We have now set up our new email system, this has lead to some changes of format, and we can no longer attach the flyer for meetings but you can access this at atm.org.uk/about/branches/eastmidlands.html. Unfortunately the changes will make communications less colourful but the meetings themselves will continue as before.
